Your safety is more important than anything else, during your consultation we’ll exclude any contraindications to the treatment, and check if you are not sensitive or allergic towards any ingredients used during the treatment.

You can bring pictures of your favourite lips to the consultation, we will advise if similar results or colours can be achieved on your features. How to prepare for your lip tattoo appointment?

  • Moisturise your lips for a few weeks lbefore your appointment.
  • Try some different lip makeup looks to see what you like better, or what suits you. Browse online and see if there’s anything that you like. If you are unsure, you can always send us these pictures and we will help to guide you what can be achieved given your skin type and facial features.

By following these simple steps, you’ll be well prepared for your consultation and lip blush treatment.

Permanent lip tattoo aftercare tips.

  • You can go back to work the same day. There’s no downtime. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to apply makeup over your new lip enhancement.
  • Straight after the treatment, you might experience some swelling or redness, this is normal and temporary.
  • Your lip colour will look sharper, brighter and more defined straight after the treatment. Over the next 2-4 weeks, the colour will gradually get softer, and more natural.
  • Apply the aftercare cream daily, after you washed your new lips. 3 times a day or more often if required.
  • During the healing period, avoid intensive exercise, steam rooms, and swimming. Avoid any sweaty or dirty/dusty activities to minimise the risk of infections.
  • Do not pick, peel or scratch your lips. Don’t touch it with unwashed hands.

How does a semi permanent lip tattoo work?

  • Before we start the treatment we draw a sketch of your lips using a pencil. Pencil can be wiped off, and we draw the shape for your approval.
  • During the process you can give us pointers on how would you like your lips to look etc.  Once we finish drawing the template, you will be given a mirror to check if you are happy with it, and then we will proceed to the next step.
  • We’ll then take pictures of the drawing of your lips, and give you a form to sign that says this is your preferred shape. The drawing takes between 15-30 minutes.
  • To make your treatment comfortable, we’ll apply a gentle topical numbing cream. This may take around 15-20 minutes.
  • Then we’ll start the tattooing process. Every skin is different and this process may take between 45-90 minutes. Healthy and hydrated skin accepts the pigment easier, and that’s why it’s important to keep your lips moisturised before the treatment.
  • After we finish your new lips, we will take pictures and give you printed out aftercare instructions. The printed copy outlines everything you need to know to maintain your new lip enhancement.
  • You should schedule your complimentary top up perfecting appointment for 4-6 weeks later ( appointments booked for a later time will not be complimentary).
  • While some people may not require a touch up, we still recommend booking this session. People with oily, combination, or thicker, more difficult skin may need this top up appointment, or even additional sessions sometimes. If you decide that the touch up isn’t necessary, just give us a call to cancel it.

How to prepare for my lip blush tattoo treatment at Beauty Bar?

  • Let us know if you ever, even as a child, had an outbreak of cold sores. Micro-pigmentation itself doesn’t cause cold sores, but if you carry the virus, it may trigger an outbreak.
  • IPL laser hair removal around your lips – make sure to schedule it at least 2-3 weeks or longer before your procedure to allow your skin to recover fully.
  • Waxing or bleaching treatments, make sure to have them done at least two weeks prior to your lip appointment.
  • Electrolysis treatments should be completed two weeks before your procedure to allow your skin to settle and avoid any potential complications.
  • Lip filler – we recommend scheduling these treatments four or more weeks before your semi permanent makeup appointment.

How long does permanent lip blush last?

  • It lasts for 2 to 5 years. Your lifestyle, medication, tanning, and overall health can influence its durability.
  • Always cover up your pigmented lips from harmful UV light with an SPF.
  • Over time permanent lips start to fade, it’s completely natural. To maintain their colour and freshness, schedule a touch up every 1-2 years. This will make sure your permanent makeup remains looking its best.

How to look after your skin post lip blush tattoo?

  • Don’t touch or rub your skin. Avoid picking or scratching the skin when it flakes off.
  • As your skin begins to heal, it’s natural for it to feel a bit itchy. This sensation is a sign that your skin is healing. Don’t scratch and disrupt the healing process.
  • Wash the area properly, with sterile water or a saline solution 3 times a day.
  • Apply a very thin layer of Bepanthen cream only after cleansing, to keep your skin hydrated and enhance the healing process.

How safe is permanent lipblush treatment?

  • Your safety is our top priority.
  • We use 100% disposable tools, needles, and cartridges.
  • We only use needle cartridges equipped with a safety membrane. This feature prevents any pigment or bodily fluids from traveling up the machine towards the motor and hand piece. It’s a one way system that creates a barrier against bacteria, viruses, and germs.
  • Between each client the work areas are sprayed and sanitised. Disposable needles and other products are deposited in the medical waste bins, eliminating any chance of cross contamination.
  • Safety is a joint effort. Both us and the client share the responsibility for a safe experience. This is why we always have a consultation before any treatment. It’s not just a formality, we need to exclude any medical conditions, diseases, or medications that may affect the procedure.
  • Proper aftercare and hygiene are important in minimising any potential risks.

What do you need to know about permanent lip treatment?

  • Some redness and swelling in the treated area is normal, doesn’t last long and subsides the same or the next day. We do not overwork the skin so there will be no scabbing.
  • Your fresh permanent lip blush will look darker, red and more intense. This is completely normal and part of the healing process. Over the next 2-4 weeks the colour will settle.
  • You don’t need to book any time off work, you can return to work the same or next day.
  • Avoid wearing makeup for a week after your treatment. You will need to wash and moisturise your lips around 3 times a day.
  • Plan your appointment in advance for when you don’t have any social events or holidays.

Does permanent lip tattoo treatment hurt?

We all have different pain threshold levels. Lip tattooing can be compared to a light scratching sensation. To minimise any discomfort we apply a topical numbing cream to make the treatment more pleasant.
