8 things you should know about hair stroke eyebrows

Semi-permanent hairstroke eyebrows and what you need to know

Semi-permanent hair stroke eyebrows are a quick and natural way to enhance your brows. This treatment is a form of tattooing technique. We use a permanent make up machine to deposit pigment into the skin to create delicate strokes that resemble real eyebrow hairs. Each brow is planned to suit the client’s individual features, and to blend in with the hair.

Hair strokes vs. feathering – is there a difference?

The hair stroke method is often referred to by various names, feathering, brush strokes, nano brows, 3D hair strokes or microblading, and they all describe the same technique. Whether you call it feathering or brush strokes, the goal is to create a natural-looking brow by drawing hair-like strokes that mimic real eyebrows.

Hair stroke vs. powder and ombre brows

The hair stroke eyebrows are preferred by clients looking for a more natural look. Usually people think that hairstrokes look more natural, but other methods like a soft shading also looks very natural and on some occasions may be better suited for certain skin types.

What results can you expect from the hair stroke eyebrows?

It is great for filling in sparse brows, to adding subtle definition, or completely reconstruct lost eyebrows. It works equally well for both men and women, giving a natural look that blends with existing brow hairs. Whether you want to thicken your brows or cover the gaps due to over plucking or scars, this method offers long-lasting and realistic results.

It isn’t recommended for people with very light hair as the strokes will not be very visible and they will blend in with the skin. Also, people with thick or oily skin aren’t good candidates for this technique, as the strokes will end up blurring after they heal. We also don’t recommend it to people with very dense and thick brow hair, the reason for this is that we would have to draw the strokes very closely together to match the density of the brow hair, and the brows would end up looking like a one big block, which doesn’t look very natural or subtle. These clients are recommended to opt for a light and very natural soft powder brow instead.

Eyebrow reconstruction with the hair stroke technique

For clients who have lost their natural eyebrows due to medical conditions like alopecia, chemotherapy, or burns, semi-permanent makeup is a great solution. The hair stroke method can reconstruct lost brows and give clients back their confidence. This technique not only looks natural but also remains in place without smudging or fading throughout the day.

The 3D effect of semi-permanent eyebrows

Semi-permanent makeup can give you a 3D effect by combining the hair stroke technique with shading and by using different pigment colours. This creates dimension and depth, and makes the combination eyebrows look more realistic. The 3D brow effect is particularly popular with clients who want a defined yet natural look.

What’s the difference between hair strokes vs. microblading?

While both the machine hair strokes and microblading aim to create natural-looking brows, they are two different techniques. Microblading uses a hand-held tool with blades to cut the skin and deposit pigment, and the machine hair strokes are created by using a permanent makeup machine with nano-needles for a more precise and less invasive application. We specialise in the machine method, which allows us to create ultra-fine, detailed strokes without causing trauma to skin that often results in scar tissue.

Are hair stroke brows right for you and your skin type?

The hair stroke method works best for people with normal or dry type of skin. If you have combination or oily skin, especially in the T-zone, other techniques like powder shading, or ombre will give you better and longer-lasting results. These methods still give natural looking brows but are better suited to your skin type.
