Can micropigmentation and semi-permanent makeup support hair loss?
Alopecia and semi-permanent makeup
Alopecia and semi-permanent makeup. How micro-pigmentation and semi-permanent makeup can support hair loss.
Your eyebrows add the character to your facial features. Sometimes they may add years if badly done, or if the shape is chosen properly, make you look younger.
The lack of eyebrows is a serious problem, and medical pigmentation and semi-permanent makeup allow people to improve the appearance after diseases and injuries to the skin on their face and body.
Medical and aesthetic pigmentation like semi-permanent make-up is an excellent option to create realistic looking eyebrows – it allows people to improve their appearance and to boost their confidence.
The possibilities of esthetic and medical pigmentation are endless – medical pigmentation of the nipple and areola, eyeliner on the eyelids that help after losing eyelashes, lips can be pigmented after cleft lip surgery, scalp pigmentation after hair loss, skin scars and skin graft can also be tattooed to blend them in, vitiligo, and of course eyebrows can be pigmented too after the hair loss due to alopecia, chemotherapy, etc.
EYEBROW PROBLEMS
Hair loss in eyebrows can often be a side effect of another condition.
Some systemic and dermatological diseases, for example, The Sign of Hertoghe or Queen Anne’s sign (thinning or loss of the outer third of the eyebrows), it may be a sign of hypothyroidism or dermatitis atopica.
Itchy eyebrows and eyelashes may be a symptom of demodicosis caused by parasites Demodex folliculorum (human Demodex mite).
Alopecia may also include eyebrows and/or eyelashes.
Frontal fibrosing alopecia causes scarring of the scalp along with balding and eyebrow loss.
There are many reasons for losing eyebrow hairs, such as alopecia, chemotherapy, burns, skin injuries or trichotillomania (uncontrolled hair pulling from various parts of the body, including eyebrow hairs).
Medical and aesthetic micro-pigmentation can correct and reconstruct eyebrow hairs if they are weak or missing for any specific reason.
Semi-permanent makeup can help to restore the natural look (face looks unnatural without eyebrows) and brings back the self-esteem and self-confidence.
EYEBROW MICROPIGMENTATION METHODS
There are different pigmentation methods and techniques available. The most popular options are the shading method and the hair stroke method.
These methods can also be combined to achieve an even more natural look of the make-up.
Before the procedure, we always draw a template. The client will be able to see the shape of the brows, where the brows will be located, its thickness and density. We always take under consideration clients wishes, symmetry and shape of the eyebrows to match the face and bone structure.
HOW IS THE SEMI-PERMANENT MAKEUP DONE?
We start with a detailed semi-permanent makeup consultation to exclude any contraindications to the treatment.
The consultation takes about 15 minutes.
During the treatment appointment, we will discuss the client’s expectations, draw the eyebrows, and then proceed to the treatment. On average it takes from 1.5h to 2.5hours.
We give our client’s written aftercare instructions that are very easy to follow.
The touchup appointment should be scheduled for about 4 to 6 weeks after the initial appointment.
